Escaping The Nutshell

2019-06-19 Big Thompson River in Moraine Park

On June 19, 2019, we hiked from the east side of Moraine Park, just off Bear Lake Road, to Cub Lake, then took the Mill Creek Trail to Hollowell Park. At Hollowell Park, we took the left branch at the trail intersection, where the sign said "Horse trail to Moraine Park". From the horse trail, we eventually hiked up to the top of the moraine, which forms the south rim of Moraine Park, heading east along the top of the moraine until we reached the horse trail again which took us down to Moraine Park.

Total distance was about 9 miles, with elevation change from low to high of about 1,600 feet.
