Macro and Micro Picture of the Day 2020-02-13

Here is a human eye. Prominent here is the iris, the part of the eye that controls the diameter of the pupil. The iris is composed of two layers. The outer layer is an interlacement of fibers connected to a muscle that controls pupil size. The inner layer is a heavily pigmented structure that is two cells thick, serving as a light blocker.

Equipment used: Canon EOS Rebel T5i with 49 mm long extension tube.
