Macro and Micro Picture of the Day 2020-04-16

Here is a corn kernel, also called maize. It is a gluten free grain that is eaten by humans and animals. An ear of corn contains about 800 kernels in 16 rows. The yellow color is due to lutein and zeaxanthin. This kernel is 6.7 x 9.4 mm in size.

Equipment used: Canon EOS Rebel T5i with a standard zoom lens (EF-S 18-55 mm) on a 49 mm long extension tube.
