Today's picture is golden flaxseed (Linum usitatissimum). Wikipedia says the seeds are 4-7 mm long and shaped like an apple seed. The 0.5 mm diameter pencil lead shown on the right indicate our seed is about that size. Flax seed is grown for human and animal consumption, paints, linoleum, and printing inks. Evidence of domesticated oilseed flax goes back 9,000 years.
