Black Peppercorn

Here is a black peppercorn which comes from a flowering vine in the piperaceae family. To make black pepper, the unripe green fruit is picked, cooked in hot water then dried for several days as the outer layer becomes black. The plant originates in south India. Vietnam is the largest producer and exporter of black peppercorns.
