Bee Balm Seed

Macro and Micro Picture of the Day 2020-02-21

Here are seeds of bee balm (Monarda fistulosa), a perennial plant in the mint family. It's a native plant through much of North America from Quebec to British Columbia and south to Georgia, Texas and Arizona. Native Americans have used the plant to treat colds, skin infections, mouth and throat infections, and flatulence. The seed size is about 0.6 by 1.4 mm.

Equipment used: Canon EOS Rebel T5i with 49 mm long extension tube.
