Table Salt

Macro and Micro Picture of the Day 2020-05-15

Here is common table salt (100x magnification), which is mostly sodium chloride crystals. This is from a box of Morton Iodized Salt, which also includes calcium silicate (anticaking agent), dextrose, and potassium iodide.

To compensate for depth of field limitations, this image was created by focus stacking 13 images using Hugin Tools. The previous table salt entry of April 26, 2020 was not focus stacked, and was at a lower magnification.

Equipment used: AmScope M150C microscope with Raspberry Pi camera module V2 (8MP).
