Common Mullein Leaf

Macro and Micro Picture of the Day 2020-05-19

Here is the leaf of common mullein (Verbascum thapsus). The plant is native to Europe and North Africa, and was introduced to North America in the 1700's for its medicinal and fish poisoning properties. Its velvety leaves have been used to line shoes, and smoked to relieve lung problems.

Equipment used: Canon EOS Rebel T5i with a standard zoom lens (EF-S 18-55 mm) on a 49 mm long extension tube.
