Here are trichomes on a Russian olive (Elaeagnus angustifolia) leaf at 100x magnification. Trichomes are usually single celled and can serve any of a variety of purposes such as defense against insects or protection against solar radiation.
To compensate for depth of field limitations, this image was created by focus stacking 13 images using Hugin Tools.
