Here is the abdomen of a western yellowjacket (Vespula pensylvanica). Right click for full resolution. While these wasps are predators of insect pests, they also are responsible for over 90% of all stings falsely attributed to bees in Colorado.

Equipment used: Canon EOS Rebel T5i with a standard zoom lens (EF-S 18-55 mm) on a 49 mm long extension tube.
