Spearmint Leaf

Macro and Micro Picture of the Day 2020-07-20

Here is a spearmint (Mentha spicata) leaf. The plant's name is due to the leaf being shaped like a spearhead. This particular leaf is about 19 mm wide by 40 mm long. Spearmint's native range extends from Ireland to China, but is now naturalized in the Americas. The Cherokee have used spearmint to treat vomiting, flatulence, colds, hemorrhoids and hysteria.

Equipment used: Canon EOS Rebel T5i with a standard zoom lens (EF-S 18-55 mm).
