Here is a dotted gayfeather (Liatris punctata) flower. Dotted gayfeather grows in North America from the plains of Canada south to northern Mexico. This picture was taken on August 13, 2020 in the foothills of Boulder County, Colorado. The Blackfoot and Kiowa would eat the root of this plant, which can extend 16 feet deep.
Equipment used: Canon EOS Rebel T5i with a standard zoom lens (EF-S 18-55 mm).
