Here is a leaf of Scouler willow (Salix scouleriana), at 40x magnification, found near Lefthand Reservoir in Colorado's Indian Peaks. The plant is known to grow at cold high altitudes, which is where we found this one. In this environment, the hairs (trichomes) understandably could be useful for protection from intense ultraviolet radiation.
Equipment used: AmScope M150C microscope with Raspberry Pi camera module V2 (8MP).
