Escaping The Nutshell

On March 28, 2022, we hiked from Big Elk Rd (Larimer County Rd 47) to Button Rock.
We parked at a wide pulloff at the start of a forest road about 1/2 mile before the turnoff to the Coulson Gulch Trailhead. Hiking up the forest road, at the first branch in the road, we turned right up the ridge following a trail and continued on the ridge until it tops out. We found a trail to the right which ascends the side of Button Rock Mountain, continuing on that until we got a view of Button Rock. We found a trail from there to Button Rock. Total elevation gain was about 1400 feet, with a total distance of 6.1 miles.
The video shows mostly Button Rock and its surroundings.
Here are the GPS tracks and a USGS topomap of the area at Hillmap.
There is a nice rock we call "Baby Button Rock" to the west of Button Rock which provides a good view of Button Rock.
