Here is the flower of common mullein (Verbascum thapsus). The flowers are densely clustered on the top of a tall stem about an inch (25 mm) wide. Each flower only opens for part of a day. These flowers were photographed in Longmont, Colorado on October 8, 2020 in late afternoon and were already closing.
Equipment used: Canon EOS Rebel T5i with a standard zoom lens (EF-S 18-55 mm).
