Here is the bark of an Engelmann spruce (Picea Engelmannii) tree in the Lumpy Ridge area of Rocky Mountain National Park. The bark of the Engelmann spruce is thin and flaky, breaking off in chunks of 5 to 10 cm. The bark and lower branches are quite flammable, but fortunately at the high altitudes that it grows, the fire season is short. This picture was taken on November 6, 2020.
