Here is kinnikinnick (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi) in winter, off the Lion Gulch Trail in the foothills of Larimer County, Colorado. The name "kinnikinnick" is a First Nations word meaning "smoking mixture" because the leaves were used to mix with or substitute for tobacco. This picture was taken on December 21, 2020.
