Here is yellow lichen growing vertically on rock near the summit of Green Mountain in the foothills of Boulder County, Colorado. This lichen appears to be a member of the species Pleopsidium flavum, a lichen that grows in western North America at high altitudes on felsic rock. This picture was taken on April 7, 2012.
