Beard Lichen

This beard lichen (Usnea lapponica) was found growing on a dead tree branch off the Lookout Mountain Trail in Rocky Mountain National Park on July 8, 2021. Some claim that beard lichen kills trees, but it does them no harm.

Equipment used: Canon EOS Rebel T5i with a standard zoom lens (EF-S 18-55 mm).
