Here is a Japanese beetle (Popillia japonica) enjoying a sweet potato leaf in our backyard in Longmont, Colorado. The Japanese beetle is an invasive species in North America, having arrived in Colorado in the early 1990's. It was first found in Wyoming one year ago today. This photo was taken on August 5, 2021.
Equipment used: Canon EOS Rebel T5i with a standard zoom lens (EF-S 18-55 mm).
