Here is kinnikinnick (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi) near the shore of Ralph Price Reservoir in the foothills of Boulder County, Colorado. The name "kinnikinnick" is a First Nations word meaning "smoking mixture" because the leaves were used to mix with or substitute for tobacco. The Blackfoot used the berries as food and the leaves to make tea. This picture was taken on September 27, 2021.
