Here is a polytrichum moss off the Ute Trail in Rocky Mountain National Park. The species is unknown. Thanks to the What's Growing in Colorado blog for it's valuable information to help identify which type of moss this is. The bryophytes, of which mosses like this are a member, are a severely neglected kind of plant in terms of study. This picture was taken on October 26, 2018.
